What will it take to bring government to the table for long-awaited building regulatory reform?

15-May, 12:30 - 14:00

BUILD

The building and construction industry has been asking for regulatory reform for years. There have been several government commissioned reviews but invariably governments do not take up most of the recommendations made. Several high profile building emergencies - including a cladding fire in Melbourne and major defects in a residential tower in Sydney - highlight the need for positive change. Are these emergencies enough to provide the momentum for government to reform building regulation to improve product safety and accountability in the building sector?

In this session, industry experts discuss the recommendations from the Shergold-Weir Report, and how to manage risk and responsibility in the building sector.
