VIDEO: Community Designs Presents Hurlingham Park
See how Bayside's sporting pavilions and community facilities are getting a female make-over in this episode of Community Designs.
Here’s one for the girls! Do you remember having to endure the boys changing room at the local clubhouse? Well in this month’s Community Designs host Monique visits Hurlingham Park, and talks to Hede Architecture’s, Peter Hede, former Mayor and Councillor of Bayside City Felicity Frederico, Youth Girls Coach Rebecca and one of the team’s player, Jess to hear their thoughts on the new pavilions and facilities to Bayside.
What’s interesting about this community is that 80% of their sporting facilities were built pre-1960, an era where women’s sport was not catered for but now through design and this community is leveling the playing field in terms of girls sports and smashing ‘the grass ceiling’.
