Protecting surfaces and safety on site with Skudo

Any professional working in the construction industry will have experienced some type of incident with a worker or a product that has injured or damaged.

There is nothing worse than paying out for the repair of a surface or floor coating that has been scratched or scuffed during construction work.

Skudo, is a homegrown Australian manufacturer of temporary protective coatings for the construction and renovation markets. A local distributor for Skudo, Rob Maniscalco explains “The Skudo range of temporary protective coatings saves time, money and provides safety for the worksite.

“Skudo has a protective product for every kind of substrate during construction or renovation, as well as providing a safe, slip-proof mat for personnel on site. Our customers are designers, developers and tradespeople who seek improved productivity and worksite safety.”

The concept evolved from the founders’ background in construction, where they found a niche for environmentally-friendly, convenient protective products that protect substrates, provide safety for workers on site and reduce wastage of product and labour time to fix it.

Skudo provides protection for glass, timber, concrete, marble, carpets, fibreglass, stainless steel and more. The applications are endless.

Eliminating and protecting from the risk of contamination

“Every project in one way or another has a need for protection, whether it’s for timber staircases or stone bench tops, polished concrete floors or marble foyers. Because Skudo products adhere to the substrate it eliminates any risk of dirt or grit contaminating your substrate by getting under the protection layer, which is often the case with other topical protection systems which can cause more damage as well as being a safety hazard for tripping and slipping.”

In addition, Skudo creates a blank canvas to the floor allowing clients to mark with their branding, signage and walkway divisional markings.

“In Australia, we are currently providing Skudo products for projects as diverse as residential developments, stadiums, schools, universities and shopping centres, with clients such as Taylor Constructions, Built, Next, Cockram, Hutchinson Builders, Richard Crookes and many more.”

Protecting The Block from expensive damage

Skudo has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the Nine Network’s The Block over several years, and Foreman, Keith Schleiger is a fan. In 2017 series, Keith famously chastised the “Blockheads” for allowing damage from tradies to ruin sections of their tiled and timber flooring, as well as expensive stone benchtops. “You should just Skudo it!” he said, reminding them of the additional time and cost to source and replace the damaged substrates.

“For all your floor protection, bench top protection and concrete curing, Skudo is the only product I would use. There is nothing else like it out there,” said “The Blockinator”, a seasoned builder with close to 35 years’ hands-on experience.
