DesignBUILD is an industry event with a renewed focus on advancing the excellence and innovation of Australia’s built environment. Bringing together Australia’s architecture, building, construction and design communities in one essential event, DesignBUILD gives industry professionals the chance to forge long-lasting business relationships across the planning, design, building and operations lifecycles as well as discover the latest products, sustainable solutions and smart tech from leading local Australian suppliers and manufacturers.

We follow advice from the State Government and operate under our venue protocols for our attendance guidelines. For the most current information regarding vaccination status and entry to the venue, please read the MCEC VenueSafe Plan here.
Should the Government or venue guidelines change around health advice and vaccination status, we will continue to operate and follow the recommended guidelines. We advise visitors to check the guidelines prior to attending.
Irrespective of the current situation and for the foreseeable future, we will continue our duty of care to all our attendees and customers and will continue to implement the additional health and safety and cleaning measures at all of our events.

As this is a business event for those people working in the industry, we ask visitors not to bring anyone under the age of 15 to the show. Proof of age and industry involvement may be requested at the door.

Can international visitors attend DesignBUILD?
All international visitors need to apply for a business visa. The passport which you hold will determine whether you can apply online, or if you need to lodge a paper-based application. Before lodging any application please take note of any travel restrictions that may apply. Click here for more information.
Applications need to be made well in advance at the Australian Embassy in your country or in some cases can be made online. For more information visit the Department of Immigration website.
Please note that the organisers DO NOT provide visa invitation letters to international visitors.
Can students attend?
Students are welcome at DesignBUILD, however, they are required to pre-register online or have prior consent from the DesignBUILD team. Only students studying a related course will qualify for entry.
Can children attend the expo?
As this is a business event for those people working in the industry, we ask visitors not to bring anyone under the age of 15 to the show. The exception is infants under one year old that cannot be separated from their primary caregiver. If you bring an infant we strongly recommend that you carry them in a baby harness due to crowds (strictly no prams or shopping trolleys allowed at the show). This applies to the children of both visitors and exhibitors. Under no circumstances are any children permitted into the exhibition halls during Move In and Move Out of the show.
What is the CPD BUILDer?
With a constantly evolving built environment we know how vital it is to stay on top of professional accreditation and that many of our exhibitors have products and courses that can keep our audience accredited. Our new CPD BUILDer platform, created and hosted by DesignBUILD, allows you to access one of Australia’s largest databases of built environment professionals, year-round and help build your brand as a certified thought leader.
The new platform will include a series of half day, online courses from already certified suppliers, with a focus on providing CPD topics that address current guidelines and the most-up-to-date technical information and applications for the industry. What is the Be Summit?
Included in our suite of events catering to the entire built environment life cycle, is our newest event brand the Be Summit.
The Be Summit is a one-day conference, bringing together Australia’s built environment leaders, government policymakers, and market experts to build a roadmap of recovery, and pave the way for future construction and development within Australia’s built environments.

What do I do if someone tries to sell me the DesignBUILD databases and visitor lists?
This is a scam and you should ignore them. DesignBUILD operates under strict data privacy laws, and we do not share our visitor or any other internal data with unauthorised third parties.
Any communication you may receive offering you to rent/buy or download our visitor or exhibitor contacts is a scam and should be deleted. We are currently exploring legal avenues to shut down these practices.
